RCMP seeking man allegedly involved in two indecent acts

Oct 18, 2018 | 10:46 AM

Red Deer RCMP are seeking public assistance to identify a man believed to be responsible for a pair of indecent acts.

Police say the suspect exposed himself to a woman and made sexual comments to her just before 8:30 p.m. on October 12. That instance took place at the intersection of 39 Street and 40 Avenue as the woman waited for a bus.

When the woman yelled at the man, she took out her cell phone to call police and the man left. The suspect was last seen walking behind the Husky gas station on 39 Street.

RCMP patrols could not locate the suspect and police continue to check local surveillance.

The suspect in the first incident is described as an Asian or Middle Eastern male, approximately 40-45-years-old and average height. He has short dark hair and facial stubble and brown eyes and spoke with no accent.

He was wearing a light grey hoodie, dark grey pants and a dark grey toque.

RCMP received a second report of an indecent act on October 15, two days after a woman running through Rotary Park the morning of Oct. 13 encountered a man of similar general description.

In this incident, the man was pushing and riding a mountain bike through the trail system and circled back to encounter the woman a second time. It was then that the woman says the man touched her inappropriately.

When she yelled, the man biked away.

At this time, Mounties believe the incidents likely involved the same man.

Neither woman was injured in the respective incidents and RCMP commend both of them for immediately yelling and creating a scene to potentially attract the attention of bystanders.
