Some of the most needed items include a new empty backpack, headphones, a Texas Instruments Scientific Calculator, or a TI-83 Plus, TI-84 Plus or TI-84 Silver calculator.

However, this depends on the grade the student is heading into.

Once you have a completed backpack or you’ve bought supplies you’d like to donate, they can be dropped off at the United Way Central Alberta office located at 4828 53 Street from Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Those who can’t shop but would still like to help can make an online donation on United Way Central Alberta’s website. In addition, from July 6 to September 28, 2026, visit a local Staples location and add a Tools for School donation to your purchase.

For those who need school supplies for the upcoming year, families will be able to access the Tools for School Program through participating community service agencies, Red Deer Public Schools, and Red Deer Catholic Schools.

Some of the agencies mentioned includes Big Brothers Big Sisters Red Deer, BGC Red Deer, Big Brothers Big Sisters Lacombe, Care for Newcomers, and CASA Mental Health.
