Temporary shutdown planned for Rocky Mountain House Health Centre heliport

May 5, 2018 | 9:08 AM

Preventative maintenance work at the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre heliport will force a temporary shutdown of the landing pad starting May 8.

Officials say the work being done includes repairs to some cracks that have emerged in the cement on the heliport ramp and preventative work to address moisture issues underneath the landing pad to prevent future damages. It’s hoped this work will ultimately ensure the safety and longevity of the facility.

The heliport is expected to re-open on May 11 with STARS helicopters to use the Rocky Mountain House Airport during the temporary closure. In the meantime, ground ambulances will transport patients to and from the health centre and airport.

Officials add that work on the heliport will not impact any staff or public parking or access to entrances.
