one suspect still sought

One charged after alleged armed robbery in Bower Place parking lot

May 2, 2024 | 2:54 PM

One person has been arrested and another is still being sought in connection to an alleged armed robbery in the parking lot of Bower Place Shopping Centre on Thursday, April 25.

RCMP say it was just before 4 p.m. that day when they received a report that a 65-year-old woman had been approached and victimized by two people.

According to statements received by RCMP, the victim described that the two people, one male and one female, unknown to her, forced their way into the victim’s vehicle. It’s said that the vehicle was driven a short distance with all three inside, before the victim stopped the car and fled.

It’s alleged that in the course of all that happening, a firearm was pointed at the victim and the suspects demanded $100.

After the vehicle stopped, the suspects also fled on foot, police say.

About eight minutes later, RCMP located a suspect matching the description given, and recovered the victim’s identification and credit card. The purse and alleged firearm, however, have not been found.

The victim was not harmed.

The female suspect is still being sought.

RCMP have charged Caleb Francis Costello, 36, of no fixed address, with the following:

  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Weapons offences x2
  • Possession of ID documents
  • Resist arrest/obstruct police officer x2
  • Failing to abide by release conditions
  • Failing to appear for fingerprints (from previous alleged incident)

Costello has been remanded and has a court date later this month.
