Red Deer County has reduced its Fire Restriction to a Fire Advisory

May 2, 2024 | 12:36 PM

As of 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2024, Red Deer County Fire Services is replacing the Fire Restriction set on April 19, 2024, to a Fire Advisory.

County officials say fire permits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and only one day permits will be issued. Fire permits are required for all open fires within the County. Permits are now available online at https://rdc.burnpermits.com/.

Residents are reminded that residential fire pits and any burn operations must comply with Red Deer County Fire Services Bylaw 2012/14.

County officials further note that Off-Highway Vehicles can start wildfires – so users are reminded to check frequently to ensure hot spots are free of debris, and to make sure mufflers and spark arrestors are working properly.

The County says any person violating conditions of this ban may be held liable for any damages and/or costs associated with extinguishing the fire and full prosecution with penalties, in accordance with Red Deer County Fire Services Bylaw 2012/14 and/or the Forest Prairie Protection Act RSA.

Red Deer County thanks residents for their cooperation. To receive notifications on when a fire ban or restriction is ordered, you can sign-up for Alertable, Red Deer County’s new notification system at https://www.rdcounty.ca/alertable.
