Red Deer RCMP have laid charges following an alleged incident in the city on Oct. 2 involving a repeat offender.

While conducting proactive patrols that day in the downtown area, RCMP observed a male operating a motorcycle erratically and driving at high rates of speed.

Officers identified the rider as someone well-known to police.

“Officers attempted to stop the motorcycle; however, the driver fled from police. Due to public safety concerns, no pursuit was initiated,” police say.

“A short time later, police identified the same individual driving a different vehicle. Officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the male without incident.”

The 44-year-old resident of Red Deer has been arrested and charged with 11 offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Traffic Safety Act, including

  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle (x2)
  • Flight from a peace officer
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired
  • Failure to comply with a release order
  • Operating an uninsured motor vehicle

Following a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) hearing, the accused was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Oct. 5, 2026.
