Trio of Red Deer-area groups get funding to support ending gender-based violence

Oct 26, 2026 | 2:20 PM

Three Red Deer region organizations are benefiting from a recent provincial funding announcement aimed at helping support those affected by gender-based violence.

The funding will support 36 community organizations across the province.

The three local groups receiving funding are:

  • Regional Red Deer Restorative Justice Society – $50,000
    • Funding will support the expansion of its established gender-based violence restorative justice program. The program provides individualized restorative processes, shorter-term client-led practices and group-based work in schools and community settings. It will also strengthen partnerships, facilitator training and pathways connecting survivors and others affected by harm with justice and community supports.
  • Turning Point Society of Central Alberta – $75,000
    • Funding will support the Safe Point Program’s justice-system navigation, outreach and gender-based violence education for vulnerable and marginalized populations. The organization intends to fund frontline staffing, including a licensed practical nurse and an outreach worker, and provide prevention resources and connections to appropriate community and justice services.
  • Mountain Rose Women’s Shelter Association – $51,000
    • Funding will continue to support individualized case management for rural survivors of gender-based violence. Services will include justice-system navigation, childcare, transportation assistance and public education, helping address practical barriers that can prevent survivors from accessing legal processes and community supports.
