A Red Deer McDonald’s employee will have his art plastered on packaging, in-restaurant displays, and more, across the country after a recent company-wide talent search.

The initiative is called ‘Made at McDonald’s,’ and 17 employees across Canada will have their art used.

That includes Richard S. of Red Deer, who has worked for the company for 32 years, beginning in the Philippines in 1993. He currently works at Red Deer’s North and Parkland locations.

“Since I was nine-years-old, I joined different competitions, a number of exhibits and sold a lot of paintings — it’s my career along with my McDonald’s career,” Richard shares.

“Every painting I create tells a story relevant to life, belief, faith and perspective. My art mostly focuses on the early lifestyle of people showing a positive outlook in life which can influence younger generations to value culture.”

Now 49, Richard says the ‘Made at McDonald’s’ campaign means a lot to him because it shows the company cares about its customers and its workers.

“Seeing the creativity of McDonald’s crew members come to life for all to see is such a proud moment for us. It truly captures the array of diverse talents and ambitions thriving in our McDonald’s family,” says Erin Moore, Chief People Officer, McDonald’s Canada.

“This campaign embodies McDonald’s commitment to fostering an environment where individual passions and professional development go hand in hand.”

The art will be unveiled in restaurants on July 29.
