Any revenue remaining after all event expenses have been paid will be transferred to the Alberta Mid-sized Cities Mayors’ Caucus in accordance with the host municipality agreement. This means there will be no impact to current or future operating budgets.

“The event will showcase local businesses, attractions, Red Deer Polytechnic and community amenities while generating economic activity through accommodations, restaurants, transportation and visitor spending,” Administration wrote in the report. “The Summit also provides an opportunity to foster civic pride by demonstrating Red Deer’s capacity to host high-profile provincial events and welcome leaders from across Alberta.”

The Alberta Mid-Sized Cities Mayors’ Caucus represents 24 municipalities with populations greater than 15,000, not including Calgary and Edmonton. Collectively, the member municipalities work together to advocate for issues affecting Alberta’s mid-sized communities.
