Chinook’s Edge celebrates long-standing employees in annual awards night
The Chinook’s Edge School Division honoured dozens of staff with service awards during its annual Celebrations event on Oct. 24 in Bowden.
“This is a particularly special event for us,” said Kurt Sacher to the gathering on Thursday evening. “Celebrations is a proud tradition in Chinook’s Edge. It unites us as a staff.” Sacher added, “Thank you to each of you for what you do for students and our school division.”
Many staff received Long Service Awards for anywhere from 10-35 years of service in the division. There were also 37 retiring staff members and special award recipients, plus 34 new teachers who were inducted into the Alberta Teachers Association.
Kirk Wassmer, a retired Didsbury High School band teacher and Ray Hoppins, a retired associate superintendent, both received Roy E. Cope Awards.
