Drugs, Cash, and Loaded Gun Seized

Trial date set for two of three people charged in Rocky area traffic stop

A trial date has been set for two of three people charged in a traffic stop on the O’Chiese First Nation that police say turned up drugs, cash, cell phones and a loaded gun.

Kyle Alexander Goodrich, 33, of the O’Chiese First Nation, and Petrina Redcalf, 31, of the Sunchild First Nation, are scheduled for trial in Rocky Mountain House Court of Justice on Dec. 11, 2023.

It was on Jan. 4, 2023, when officers say a vehicle was stopped for a traffic offence where they recognized the passenger as 33-year-old Kyle Goodrich who was wanted on a Canada wide warrant.

Upon further investigation, officers say they located drug paraphernalia and a bag containing a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine. All three occupants were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Mounties say the vehicle was seized and a search warrant obtained. As a result of the investigation RCMP seized:

The Rocky Mountain House RCMP Crime Reduction Unit charged three individuals following the traffic stop on the main road of the O’Chiese First Nation.

Kyle Goodrich was charged with:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking
• Trafficking in property obtained by crime under $5,000
• Careless used of a firearm
• Unsafe storage of a firearm
• Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized
• Possession of a weapon in motor vehicle
• Possession of a weapon obtained by crime
• Possession of weapon contrary to order

Petrina Redcalf was charged with:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking
• Careless use of firearm
• Unsafe storage of a firearm
• Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Possession of weapon knowing possession is unauthorized
• Possession of weapon in motor vehicle
• Possession of weapon obtained by crime
• Fail to comply with release order condition

Paula Nicole Beaverbone, a 34-year-old resident of O’Chiese First Nation, was charged with:

• Fail to obey traffic control device
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking
• Careless use of a firearm
• Unsafe storage of firearms
• Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Possession of a weapon knowing possession is unauthorized
• Possession of a weapon in motor vehicle
• Possession of a weapon obtained by crime

Beaverbone’s matter is next due in Rocky Mountain House Court of Justice on May 10, 2023.
