Rocky Mountain House RCMP charge three people following traffic stop

The Rocky Mountain House RCMP Crime Reduction Unit have charged three individuals following a traffic stop on the main road in O’Chiese First Nation.

On Jan. 4, 2023, officers say a vehicle was stopped for a traffic offence where they recognized the passenger as 33-year-old Kyle Goodrich who was wanted on a Canada wide warrant.

Upon further investigation, officers say they located drug paraphernalia and a bag containing a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine. All three occupants were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The vehicle was seized and a search warrant obtained. As a result of the investigation RCMP seized:

  • Approximately 361.5 grams of suspect methamphetamine
  • A loaded handgun
  • $800 in Canadian currency
  • Several cellphones

Kyle Goodrich, a resident of O’Chiese First Nation, has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Trafficking in property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Careless used of a firearm
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of a weapon in motor vehicle
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of weapon contrary to order

Goodrich was held for a judicial interim hearing and remanded into custody for court Jan. 11, 2023.

Petrina Redcalf, a 31-year-old resident of Sunchild First Nation, has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Careless use of firearm
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of weapon knowing possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of weapon in motor vehicle
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime
  • Fail to comply with release order condition

Redcalf was held for a judicial interim hearing and remanded into custody for court Jan. 6, 2023.

Paula Beaverbone, a 34-year-old resident of O’Chiese First Nation, has been charged with:

  • Fail to obey traffic control device
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon knowing possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of a weapon in motor vehicle
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by crime

Beaverbone was held for a judicial interim hearing and released on a release order with court schedule for Jan. 25, 2023.

All have been set to appear at the Rocky Mountain House Provincial Courthouse.
