Red Deer Firefighters Children’s Charity Christmas tree pickup

Jan 10, 2022 | 3:31 PM

The Red Deer Firefighters Children’s Charity wants to pick up your unwanted used Christmas trees on Jan. 15.

Brendon Laczo, spokesperson for Red Deer Firefighters Children’s Charity, says the fire department has been providing this service in support of local organizations for decades, noting this year, however, things will be different.

Laczo says donations will need to be made prior to the trees being picked up from a resident’s address.

On Jan. 15, Red Deerians can make a donation prior to tree pick up, along with a message noting their address and contact information. Laczo says residents can leave their real Christmas trees out on their front lawn and someone with the fire department will come by to pick it up.

“All one hundred per cent of the donations towards the website will be funneled back to the children of Red Deer,” says Laczo.

“The most recent one that happened this holiday season was a donation of hundreds of toys to the Red Deer Christmas Bureau and the Salvation Army. We also support local families and those who are in need, if they need specialized equipment such as car seats and wheelchairs.”

Laczo says they are also working on a lunch and meal program for schools in Red Deer.

He reiterates that only pre-registered trees on their website will be picked up.
