Red Deerians asked to donate winter gear for Coats 4 Kids campaign

Sep 28, 2026 | 1:44 PM

The Red Deer Christmas Bureau Society’s 65th annual Coats 4 Kids campaign begins today.

From Sept. 28 to Oct. 17, citizens are asked to drop off used coats and winter items for children and adults.

The Bureau will then clean and distribute them to families in need.

The main drop-off location is at the Red Deer Christmas Bureau, located at 4630-61 Street from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday to Friday.

Meanwhile, those hoping to donate can also drop off the clothing at Classic Cleaners (4912-35 St.), Village Dry Cleaners (B-5101 76 St.), The Coverall Shop (6722 Gaetz Ave.), and Mustang Laundry (6830 – 59 Ave.).

Some of the winter items they’re looking for are coats, mitts, gloves, toques, scarves, and ski pants.

Following the deadline in October, the Christmas Bureau plans to distribute the items from Oct. 19-23, Monday to Friday, and Oct. 26-31, Monday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

No appointment will be required, but jackets will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. Only one jacket per client will be handed out.

In addition, all clients who need a jacket will be required to provide an Alberta Health Card and proof of address.
