Pair charged after weapons complaint in Sylvan Lake

Sylvan Lake RCMP have charged two people in connection a weapons complaint this week.

It was just after 8 p.m. on July 7 when RCMP responded to a report of a male pointing a firearm. A specific location was not provided.

Police say it was reported that a vehicle sped through an area with heavy pedestrian traffic when the eventual victim yelled at the driver to slow down.

“The driver stopped his vehicle and confronted the victim. As the victim left the area, the driver pointed what appeared to be a firearm at him,” a release states. “Sylvan Lake RCMP responded immediately to the area and located the vehicle.”

Subsequent investigation resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine and cocaine as well as an airsoft pellet gun.

Charged are:

Kole Albert Prodaniuk, 24, of Sylvan Lake:

· Pointing a firearm

· Possess a weapon for a dangerous purpose

· Possess property obtained by crime under $5000

· Possess a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (x2)

· Drive carelessly

· Operate motor vehicle without licence in possession

Lee Michael Falsetta, 35, of Sylvan Lake:

· Possess a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (x2)

· Fail to comply with probation order (x3)

Both accused were released to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on August 13.
