RCMP seeking black SUV used in Tuesday morning robbery

Jun 26, 2018 | 1:37 PM

Red Deer RCMP are searching for a black Ford SUV used during a robbery on Tuesday morning in Riverside Meadows.

Mounties say the incident occurred shortly before 10:45 a.m. in an alley behind 60 Street just off Taylor Drive when a suspect demanded cash from a victim.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being attacked with a machete and was robbed of his wallet and cellphone. He was taken to hospital to be treated.

Now, police are searching for the vehicle used; it is described as a newer model Ford SUV, black in colour, and it was occupied by a Caucasian male suspect described as six feet tall.

The SUV was last seen driving east on 60 Street.

RCMP are also looking for a second vehicle believed to be involved in the robbery. It was occupied by a Caucasian male and a Caucasian female with blonde hair. There is no description of that vehicle.

At this time, RCMP do not believe this was a random attack and they ask citizens who see the suspect vehicle or have information to call them at 403-343-5575.

More information will be shared when it becomes available.
