Evidence hearings delay Red Deer murder trial
It’ll be mid-next week before the jury hears more evidence at the second-degree murder trial of Daniel Sawyer.
The 34-year-old is charged in the Nov. 18, 2015 stabbing death of Allan Beach outside the Blarney Stone pub in north Red Deer.
It’s already been several days since evidence was presented at the trial as voir dire hearings over evidence admissibility have taken over the proceedings in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench.
Justice Bill Hopkins acknowledged Friday that the jury may be growing frustrated as they seek to carry out the duties they agreed to at the outset of the trial.
