Central Alberta Dream Drive set for Saturday, Sept. 12

“Families are welcome on site. There will be a car show, and they can check out the cars from the Dream Drive Rally,” she said. “We are very excited and hope everyone comes out to support the event.”

The car show will feature a collection of vintage or exotic vehicles, as well as big trucks and many others. During the car show, there will also be a kids’ zone where there will be hands-on activities, live entertainment, and food vendors.

The event will be open from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for people to come check out the vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Dream Drive Rally will be where several unique vehicles will drive along a route throughout Red Deer with their co-pilots for the community to see.

The full route still has yet to be determined, but they will begin the drive heading out on 19 Street with the grand marshal and country musician Brett Kissel leading the way.

The co-pilots will be made up of kids aged six and over who will benefit from the experience. Any child can apply, but priority will be given to those who have faced medical, physical, emotional, or personal challenges.

“It’s about giving the kids a boost of confidence, joy, and that anything is possible,” Sharpe added.

And finally, the Finish Line Gala is the only part of the day that is not free to the public. It is a private event for sponsors and donors that will feature dinner, a live auction, and a concert by Kissel.

The money raised for the Westerner Foundation is made through the sponsors of the event as well as through the auction. There will also be 50-50 tickets available throughout the day and at the gala.

The Westerner Foundation is a charity that promotes, fundraises and invests in initiatives that support the future sustainability of Westerner Park.

Sharpe said they’re still searching for more vehicles to take part, and applications are still open for sponsors and children who would benefit from taking part in the dream drive as co-pilots. So far, 50 children have signed up, and they anticipate having 75-100 cars take part in the event.
