City of Red Deer to transition to new online council meeting platform

May 21, 2026 | 4:26 PM

The City of Red Deer say they are transitioning to a new online livestreaming platform that will make it easier for residents to watch council meetings and access meeting information.

Beginning with the May 26 meeting, the city will begin the process of updating its technology to eScribe, a new meeting management and livestreaming platform.

Residents and anyone interested will be able to access meeting livestreams, agendas, reports and meeting schedules.

The city says the change is part of a service improvement intended to provide a more modern, user-friendly experience for people who want to follow council decisions and access public meeting materials.

“The new platform will provide one online location for meeting agendas, related reports, past meeting information and upcoming meeting schedules,” as stated in the release. “When livestreaming is available, viewers will also be able to access the livestream through the platform. Upcoming council meetings will be shown in either calendar or list format, making it easier to find meeting dates and materials.”

Currently, the city uses OnBase to livestream council meetings, and as the transition takes place, meetings.reddeer.ca will continue to house existing meeting content for a period of time.

“It will then be redirected to a revised city webpage where the new eScribe streaming system will be embedded,” the city added.

Residents can access council meeting information through the city’s council meetings and schedule webpage. Agendas are typically posted the Friday before each Council meeting.

“City council meetings remain open to the public,” as stated in the release. “Anyone may attend the open portions of council meetings in person, and livestreaming will continue to be available for those who prefer to watch online. Closed portions of meetings, when required under legislation, are not open to the public or livestreamed.”
