Innisfail RCMP arrested a 38-year-old man from Clearwater County after a vehicle was stolen out of Red Deer.

Police say on June 10, Red Deer RCMP told the Innisfail RCMP that a delivery fan had been stolen from the parking lot at the Red Deer Resort and Casino. The van had then drove west of Innisfail near Highway 22.

With assistance from Red Deer RCMP Police Dog Services, officers from Innisfail, Sundre, Sylvan Lake and Rocky Mountain House detachments found the vehicle and successfully deployed a tire deflation device.

The man then fled on foot into a rural wooded area, but Alberta RCMP Air Services and Police Dog Services searched the area and found the suspect, who was arrested without incident. The stolen vehicle was also recovered.

The 38-year-old man was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, and operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited.

He was also arrested on two outstanding warrants for theft of a motor vehicle and theft under $5,000.

Following a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) Hearing, he was remanded into custody to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on June 12.
