Charges withdrawn for BC man charged in fatal crash that killed two Rocky Mountain House women
Charges have been withdrawn for a B.C. man charged in a fatal crash that claimed two lives in central Alberta last year.
Richard Wayne Opsahl, 60, of Creston, B.C., had two counts of dangerous operation causing death, withdrawn in Red Deer Court of Justice on May 11, 2026.
According to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS), after assessment by the Crown prosecutor, it was determined there was no reasonable likelihood of conviction. As such the charges were withdrawn.
It was on April 28, 2025, at 2:13 p.m., when Sylvan Lake RCMP responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 11 at Range Road 35, west of Sylvan Lake.
