90 km/h wind gusts expected

Wind warning in place for Red Deer and surrounding area

Update – As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, the wind warning remains in effect.

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a wind warning for the City of Red Deer and area.

Authorities say strong wind gusts up to 90 km/h are expected late tonight and will weaken by Tuesday morning.

There will be poor visibility due to snow, and blowing snow is also possible.

As a result, local utility outages are possible as well as damage to roofs, fences, branches and soft shelters.
