Red Deer man sentenced following assault outside local mall
A Red Deer man charged in an assault that took place outside a business at Parkland Mall last fall has been sentenced to five months in jail and 18 months of probation.
Cameron Dowkes, 43, was sentenced in Red Deer Court of Justice on Jan. 12, 2026, after being found guilty on one count of assault. A charge of threats causing death/bodily harm was dismissed, while a charge of willfully promoting hatred was withdrawn.
Dowkes, however, was given 134 days credit for time already served, leaving him with 16 days left to serve.
He was charged following an incident on Oct. 15, 2025.
