ENDED: Boil water advisory issued for south Penhold

Update  – 1:45 p.m., Dec. 14 – The boil water advisory has ended.

An emergency alert was issued just before 10 p.m. Thursday night due to a boil water advisory issued for the southern part of Penhold.

According to the alert, the advisory will remain in effect until water quality testing confirms there is no contamination.

This alert is in effect for areas within Penhold, south of Minto Street.

Action to take:

  • Until further notice, all residents and businesses are advised to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes, including drinking, making infant formula, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice
  • Updates will to be provided on the website and Facebook

Mayor Mike Yargeau tells rdnewsNOW that regular testing found chlorine levels, while still within the allowable limit, were unusually low on Thursday. He says the advisory is simply out of an abundance of caution and is hoping for a swift fix.

He could not yet speak to the reason the chlorine levels are low, however. cause has not yet been indicated.
