Red Deer region’s unemployment rate slightly up in October

The Red Deer economic region’s unemployment rate (seasonally unadjusted) came in at 7.4 per cent in October, up from 7.0 per cent in September.

This is according to the latest Labour Force Survey from Statistics Canada.

Meantime, Red Deer’s economic region’s employment rate is at 64.2 per cent, which is up from the 64.1 per cent reported in September.

Elsewhere in the province, Edmonton’s unemployment rate came in at 8.2 per cent and Calgary’s at 7.6 per cent.

Lethbridge and Medicine Hat’s unemployment rate was at 8.6 per cent, and the lowest in the province came from the Camrose-Drumheller economic region at 5.5 per cent.

Provincially, Alberta’s unemployment rate was the fourth highest in the country at 7.8 per cent, trailing New Brunswick (7.9 per cent), PEI (8.5 per cent), and Newfoundland and Labrador (10.1 per cent).

Canada as a whole had an unemployment rate of 6.9 per cent, down 0.2 percentage from September.
