Safe Harbour announces new executive director

Jul 4, 2025 | 4:16 PM

Safe Harbour Society has announced a new executive director.

Kelli Steele-Stanton takes over, effective July 15.

In Red Deer, Safe Harbour provides addiction recovery-oriented and housing-focused services, in addition to running the emergency homeless shelter.

Per Safe Harbour:

With a distinguished background in healthcare leadership, Indigenous advisory, and strategic community engagement, Kelli brings over two decades of experience leading complex systems through transformation and growth. Her career has spanned executive leadership roles in mental health, housing, addiction services, and municipal partnerships—including serving as Regional Vice President at Homewood Health and leading national initiatives such as Wellness Together Canada. A highly regarded consultant and executive, Kelli is recognized for her communication style, her unwavering integrity, and her ability to navigate complexity while centering the voices of those most affected by systemic challenges.

Steele-Stanton assumes the role following the departure of Perry Goddard, who was in the role for a brief 10 months until May 2025; that was following the retirement of Kath Hoffman who’d been at the helm from 2005 to 2024.
