Mayor’s Recognition Awards celebrate incredible community contributions
Red Deer Mayor Cindy Jefferies presented numerous awards to celebrate citizens who’ve made outstanding contributions in the community at the annual Mayor’s Recognition Awards.
On Wednesday night, approximately 30 Red Deerians crossed the stage to receive recognition for their work, whether through leadership, volunteerism, creativity, service, or exceptional achievement.
Jefferies, who took part in the awards for the first time since becoming mayor last year, said the most important part for her was shining a light on people doing great things.
“It’s a bit awkward that it’s called the Mayor’s Recognition Awards because it’s not about the mayor, it’s about recognizing people in the community that make Red Deer a better place,” she said. “You can feel the emotion and excitement of people being recognized and appreciated for what they give and how they serve.”
