On Friday, May 31 from 6 – 10 p.m. at the Hilltop Event Centre in Sylvan Lake, the Garden Party will include live and silent auctions, live music by Megan Dawson, lawn games, and food and drinks.

The event will help support the organization’s mission of building more affordable homes.

“We are working towards a world where everyone has a safe and affordable place to call home, and Habitat Red Deer is the only charitable organization dedicated to affordable homeownership. As the need for Habitat homes grows each year, so does the cost to build, so we need the support of the community to continue serving local families,” said the organization on the CanadaHelps website.

Guests are encouraged the get into the garden party spirit by including something floral in their outfits.

A potential Mother’s Day gift, tickets can be purchased online for those 16 years old and over. All proceeds will go towards the organization and a portion of the ticket will be eligible for a charitable tax receipt, which will be sent after the event.

The organization is also holding a “She-Shed” raffle, where participants can have a chance to win a fully furnished shed, complete with décor and furniture for a backyard office, music and art room, or hangout space.

Donated by Central Alberta Co-op, the all-weather vinyl exterior siding, shingles, windows and roofing makes the 10’x12′ shed accessible all year round. Local designer Janina Jewel worked on the interior touches for a relaxed boho style, which will also be complete with insulation, painted walls, flooring, lighting, and power outlets. The materials were donated by Wolf Creek Building Supplies and Benjamin Moore Red Deer.

Tickets are limited and can be purchased online.
