Red Deer city council meeting recap

Red Deer city council held their regular meeting on Monday, June 26 in council chambers at City Hall.

The following decisions were made:

2022 Operating Budget Variance Report (information):

Council received a report for information outlining the 2022 Operating Budget variance. The report provides transparency in reporting compliance with the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and with council policies.

2022 Capital Budget Variance Report (information):

Council received a report outlining the 2022 Capital Budget variance. The report provides transparency in reporting compliance with the MGA and with council policies.

2022 Reserve Report (information):

Council received a report outlining the 2022 Reserves. The report provides transparency in reporting compliance with the MGA and with council policies.

Land Use Bylaw amendment (first reading):

City council gave first reading to a site exception on 6970 Taylor Drive to allow for a multi-family building and an assisted living facility.
A Public Hearing for this Land Use Bylaw amendment will be held at the Monday, July 24 council meeting in council chambers.

Debt Policy Review (information):

During the 2023/2024 budget debate and approval, council passed a resolution to review the debt policy.
No changes were made at this time to the debt policy to allow for the long-term financial plan to be completed. This means the debt limit of 75 per cent of provincial debt limits will remain unchanged at this time. The report was accepted for information.
