COVID PRECAUTIONS

Siksika First Nation imposes curfew due to COVID-19

Jul 6, 2020 | 6:23 AM

SIKSIKA FIRST NATION- Clusters of COVID-19 cases on the Siksika Nation east of Calgary have prompted the community’s leaders to impose a curfew.

Chief Ouray Crowfoot says in a video message that as of Thursday there were 21 known COVID-19 cases with links to the community, and that five separate and unrelated case clusters had been uncovered in the previous 12 days.

The curfew applies from 11 p.m to 5 a.m., with exceptions that can be made on an as-needed basis for work or other reasons.

Crowfoot says the risk of community transmission is high and that each new case cluster makes it even harder to contact trace and isolate people fast enough.
