Drayton Valley RCMP report: April 16 – 23

April 16

8:20 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complainant reporting vandalism to two work trucks overnight. Suspects smashed vehicle door handles with crowbars.

8:55 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant calling to report an erratic driver in a silver Ford truck. Vehicle is swerving all over the road.

9:04 am – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Complainant reporting an abandoned Black Kia Sorento at the gravel pits. Members attended and spoke with the Registered Owner. Advised their daughter was at a party and was too intoxicated to drive so got a ride with someone else. Apparently they do not understand the whole social distancing thing.

2:06 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting a shoplifter. Female with white leggings and a black zipper jacket stole a Reese cruncher snack.

6:57 pm – Drayton Valley – WalMart – Complainant reporting a theft of a sound bar. Barcode taken from garbage can and placed on Sony sound bar worth $500 and went through the check out. Members attended, staff had caught male before they left the store. Male returned the item and purchased another sound bar for $98 and left.

7:15 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting an unwanted male. Male is banned from the store. Has since left, however keeps coming back with garbage and goes to the dumpster. Member attended, known male.

10:37 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting an unwanted male is trying to get in the rooms at the Inn. Male is wearing a high visibility jacket. Police attended, employee advised they were able to determine the male was part of a work crew.

April 17

12:54 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a break and enter to business. Members attended, persons inside are cleaning staff.

2:27 am – Drayton Valley – Canadian Tire – Complainant reporting a vehicle going behind Canadian Tire store with headlights out. Vehicle is a Chrysler 300. Patrols done, vehicle gone upon arrival. Patrols in area were negative.

4:45 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Complainant reporting a break and enter in progress. Members attended and spoke with property representative who advised someone had locked themselves in the office. Members located office, known male had barricaded himself inside. Members gained entry and located known male smoking methamphetamine. 31-year-old Aaron Rowan was arrested and charged with possession of break and enter instruments, break and enter, resisting arrest and fail to comply. Male held for a bail hearing and held for court.

5:05 am – Drayton Valley – Poplar Ridge Home Building Center – Complainant reporting they saw a male walk across the front yard then disappeared. Lights then went on in building. Member attended, no sign of any break and enter.

1:28 pm – Drayton Valley – 48 Avenue – Complainant reporting they received an email advising them to send $2000 in bitcoin money or they will release sexual videos of them. Member advised complainant to update passwords. This is a scam.

2:06 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting they lost their wallet containing their ID and $600 in cash. Wallet lost between Subway and Dairy Queen.

3:31 pm – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Complainant reporting suspicious vehicle possibly dumping garbage. Vehicle is a dark blue older Chevrolet truck extended cab with a white hood. Member spoke with complainant who advised they did not observe them dumping garbage.

7:00 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a female walking near the highway. Female has dark hair in a braid wearing a hat, light jacket, jeans and winter boots. Member attended and located female who was intoxicated and stated they were walking to Edmonton. Members were able to assist her in getting a ride.

9:25 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 482 – Complainant calling to say their friend took their vehicle keys. Complainant is very intoxicated.

9:34 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting they were assaulted. Members attended location, matter is still under investigation.

April 18

12:35 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting an impaired driver. Stated they were just about hit near McDonalds. Vehicle had gone through the intersection turned the corner by Walmart and hit power pole. Suspect vehicle is a jeep. Vehicle located, driver arrested and charged for impaired driving.

7:58 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complainant reporting theft from vehicle overnight. Handbag with credit cards stolen. Suspect had attempted to use MasterCard at Fas Gas 2 hours ago.

11:13 am – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reporting the top of a hydro pole broke off and is dangling and smoking. Utility company contacted. Member attended and located pole, Equis and fire department attended as well.

11:38 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complainant reporting theft from vehicle overnight. Entry gained to their white 2016 GMC 2500 work truck. Laptop and electronic metering test kit stolen. Vehicle had been unlocked.

1:14 pm – Brazeau County – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reporting driver of a 2014 black Chevrolet Crew Cab 4 Door with stickers on the back window blew through a 4 way stop sign in Rocky Rapids.

3:19 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting harassment with in-laws. States they are stalking them. In-laws own the residence complainant lives in. Ongoing issue and relates to custody issues.

3:53 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a pitbull with a blue collar is running on the highway. Animal control contacted.

9:07 pm – Drayton Valley – Members requested to conduct wellbeing check on female. Female attended hospital with members.

10:06 pm – Drayton Valley – Canada Post – Complainant flagged down members and advised they had their truck stolen approximately 20 minutes prior. Members patrolled area. Vehicle recovered and returned to owner.

April 19

2:53 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a male on the side of the road freezing. Vehicle broke down. Wearing all black clothing. Member attended location and located male who was intoxicated. Queries indicated a warrant for arrest. Arrested on outstanding warrant.

7:35 am – Drayton Valley – 46 Street – Complainant reporting a vehicle with an illegal exhaust. White Dodge 1 ton or ¾ ton has illegal exhaust and starts vehicle up early in morning.

9:46 am – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complainant reporting an unwanted male is curled up in front of the door to the bank. Has a back pack. Member attended, male had left prior to arrival.

4:38 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complainant reporting a break and enter to the business yard. Lock on gate was cut, wrenches were left behind. Member attended, nothing taken.

5:56 pm – Drayton Valley – Country Style Trailer Court – Complainant reporting a black Dodge Journey with “cougar” on the back window is leaving the area. Driver has been drinking all day. Members located the vehicle, driver not intoxicated.

6:55 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting they bought a used washing machine which is leaking water. Wants a refund.

7:47 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Complainant reporting 8-9 adults are outside residence. Member attended location, several persons are outside the residence working on vehicle.

9:29 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Complainant reporting a possible stolen vehicle in the parking lot. Vehicle is a silver Ford F-250. Members attended, vehicle had been stolen out of Edmonton.

10:25 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a possible intoxicated driver in the ditch. Dark coloured Acadia with 2 females and 1 male. Member attended and located persons. No signs of impairment. Trying to get down to the river.

11:07 pm – Drayton Valley – 7-11 – Complainant reporting they had reported a white 2005 Chevrolet truck stolen this afternoon, and they now observed the vehicle driving around. Member attended, vehicle not the same one as had been reported.

April 20

1:22 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting someone knocked on their door then ran away. Member attended and made patrols with negative results.

1:39 am – Brazeau County – RR 65 – Complainant reporting an alarm advising copper cable has been cut. Member attended and located cable box on the side, cables out. Cable cut about 50 meters from roadway.

2:09 am – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Parkland Fire Department requesting assistance with outside fire. Member attended and advised the fire starter to put out fire as they would not let fire department put it out.

6:38 am – Drayton Valley – 7-11 – Complainant reporting a shoplifter. Took some chocolate bars and Gorilla tape. Suspect is female, wearing a black jacket with a baby pink back pack. Member attended and spoke with complainant who stated that the female had put the items under their coat and when confronted, she removed items and took off running.

9:06 am – Drayton Valley – 55 Avenue – Complainant reporting fraudulent activity. Banking information has been changed on Canada Revenue account. Possible suspect. Members attended, complainant to provide statement in order to investigate further.

10:10 am – Drayton Valley – 55 Street – Complainant reporting vandalism to a work truck. Vehicle had been broken into over the weekend, steering column broken and back window broken. Tools had been removed from vehicle but located underneath.

12:43 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Town Peace Officer requesting assistance with traffic stop. Member attended as requested.

1:17 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Residential alarm, member attended, false alarm, cleaning staff on site.

1:26 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Avenue – Complainant requesting members conduct a wellbeing check on male. Members attended, male was ok.

2:35 pm – Brazeau County – River Ravine Estates – Complainant reporting a house party next door with three loose dogs. Dogs were not being aggressive. Animal control contacted.

3:09 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a hit and run to vehicle sometime in the past few days. Unknown where.

4:13 pm – Brazeau County – Family dispute reported. Members attended, one party was upset with other as the other party was intoxicated. Parties separated.

5:09 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reporting tenants are fighting. One male was breaking dishes. Members attended, male was intoxicated, arrested and held until sober.

5:52 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious male wearing grey pants, grey sweatshirt, longer grey hair and a cap is bleeding from his forehead on the sidewalk. Member patrolled the area, no persons matching description located

8:18 pm – Drayton Valley – IGA parking lot – Complainant reporting a male and female arguing. Male is aggressive and grabbing the female. Members attended, parties separated.

8:21 pm – Drayton Valley – Centre Court Trailer Court – Complainant reporting an unwanted person. Members attended, landlord-tenant issue.

8:26 pm – Brazeau County – 911 call received with female overheard screaming “get out.” Members located the address and spoke with complainant who was concerned about a male possibly wanting to hurt themselves. Male went with members to the hospital.

8:49 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant advising that tenant is back at residence to get their things. Member attended, spoke with both parties. Female had taken her own things.

11:35 pm – Drayton Valley – Drayton Valley Ford – Complainant reporting a suspicious person on a bicycle. Person wearing all black clothing with hood up. Members patrolled the area, person not located.

April 21

1:22 am – Drayton Valley – Centre Court Trailer Court – Third call received from same address, this time complainant says that they have been locked out of residence. Members attended again, all parties had left the scene.

3:42 am – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Complainant reporting a suspicious person. Male walked by the Ford Dealership and is going through the hotel parking lot carrying bottles. Person not located.

3:57 am – Drayton Valley – Cause for Critters – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle pulled up and is sitting outside the animal shelter. Someone got out of vehicle and walked around the building. Member attended, nothing damaged, building secure.

5:37 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting their locked running blue 2006 Chevrolet Silverado stolen. Keys were inside.

7:19 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting theft of rims and tires were stolen off a truck in the compound behind the gate. Member attended, truck had been placed on jacks.

11:40 am – Drayton Valley – Meier Avenue – Complainant calling to report their ex-girlfriend was not allowing them to get their possessions back from the residence. Member spoke with both parties. Ex stated the complainant could get their belongings the following day.

1:26 pm – Drayton Valley – Wal Mart – Complainant reporting a hit and run to their red 2012 Dodge Ram while parked in the parking lot.

1:58 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting unwanted communications between a male and their daughter over snap chat. Matter is still under investigation.

2:40 pm – Drayton Valley – Health connection – Complainant reporting unknown person on the roof of commercial buildings. Male with a hoodie and baseball cap. Members attended and located male who was warned they would be arrested if observed on roof again. Male advised they were taking pictures from the roof.

6:46 pm – Parkland County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting erratic driver in a black GMC Jimmy or Chevrolet Blazer southbound. Passed complainant on double solid line. Member patrolled area, vehicle not located.

6:52 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 502 – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle on lease road. Members attended and patrolled the area, located vehicle which failed to stop for police. Vehicle was stopped shortly after and the driver, 35-year-old Garrett McConnell arrested on 7 outstanding warrants as well as flight from police and other criminal code charges. McConnell held for a Bail hearing.

7:58 pm – Brazeau County – RR 65 – 911 open line. Member was able to contact caller who advised they were safe and had been out for a walk.

8:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 56 Street – Complainant reporting an abandoned vehicle. Vehicle not reported stolen. Several attempts made to contact Registered Owner with negative results.

9:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver charged for operating a motor vehicle without registration and displaying an unauthorized plate.

9:30 pm – Drayton Valley – Carlton East – Request to assist EMS with possible overdose. Members attended, 6-year-old removed from residence. Male taken to hospital.

12:35 pm – Brazeau County – RR 91 – Complainant reporting an abandoned vehicle on a lease site. Vehicle is a blue Subaru Impreza. Vehicle was locked, no damage. Member contacted registered owner, vehicle is not reported stolen. Owner advised they were camping in the area.

2:02 pm – Drayton Valley – Recycle Lot – Complainant reporting a suspicious female with brown hair and wearing a grey floral shirt and sweatpants is going through the blue bag paper recycling. Member patrolled the area, no female located.

2:56 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Complainant calling to report a family dispute. Members attended and mediated situation.

6:41 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant advised that they found a wallet on the side of the road while changing a tire. Owner of wallet contacted and will pick up at detachment.

7:04 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Abandoned 911 call, open line. Ongoing issue, all residents are safe.

7:56 pm – Drayton Valley – 20 Avenue – Members were called to a report of a collision. Member attended, driver charged with driving an uninsured vehicle on highway.

9:17 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reporting multiple vehicles driving through and around the Omniplex. A black car is stuck in the mud. Others assisted and vehicle left. Members attended area and continued to conduct patrols and conduct traffic stops to warn youth about their behaviour.

10:24 pm – Drayton Valley – 55 Street – Complainant reporting an attempted break and enter to residence. Attempt to enter through open window. Complainant yelled at male who left in Chevrolet Avalanche with a lift kit. Members conducted patrols, vehicle not located.

11:41 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious male at the back diesel pumps at gas station. Male was driving a blue 4 door vehicle. Member attended surveillance video to be obtained. Vehicle had gone upon arrival.

April 23

2:45 am – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Complainant reporting 2 females were fighting. Members attended. One female had left, the other was very intoxicated.

6:52 am – Drayton Valley – 52 street – Complainant reporting a possible break and enter. Lots of people breaking into the apartment. Members attended, no one observed breaking into apartments. Suspicious males observed and told to move on.
