Manning Centre’s Networking Conference held in Red Deer

Nov 27, 2018 | 10:41 AM

Supporters of Canada’s conservative movement gathered at Red Deer College on Saturday for a conference aiming to capture the desire for big thinking on critical issues facing Western Canada and the country as a whole.

The Manning Centre’s second annual Alberta Manning Networking Conference saw roughly 300 participants, including elected officials, candidates, business leaders, and grassroots advocates all attend the sold-out event.

The conference’s theme “Big Ideas for the Big West” featured an agenda that included panel discussions on subjects such as Multiculturalism/Canadian Identity, modern political activism techniques, and restoring fiscal sanity to the province.

Notable participants included speakers Jason Kenney, Leader of the Opposition in Alberta, lawyer & author Jamil Jivani, media personality Rex Murphy and the Head of Public Policy at Twitter Canada – Michele Austin among others.

“We’ve built up a strong reputation as the convening place of Canada’s conservative-movement through hosting national conferences for the past 11 years and Albertan one’s for the last two” said Manning Centre Vice President John Whittaker in a press release. “Canada & Alberta more specifically are struggling with poor economic circumstances made-worse by ineffective governments – it’s crucially important for conservatives to get together and recommit ourselves to a shared belief in a better-governed country.”
