Central Alberta teen dies in fatal collision involving train

A central Alberta teen has died following a fatal collision with a train.

On Aug. 19, 2026, at approximately 4 a.m., Wetaskiwin RCMP were dispatched to a report of a collision between a southbound train and a pedestrian.

After conducting an extensive search of the area with the assistance CPKC Police, Mounties say the body of a deceased male was located south of the Wetaskiwin city limits.  

The deceased was identified as an 18-year-old male resident of Maskwacis First Nation.
