Lip Sync Battle supporting Women’s Outreach

Oct 10, 2018 | 12:10 PM

It’s quickly becoming one of the most entertaining annual fundraising events in Red Deer.

The third annual Lip Sync Battle in support of Women’s Outreach goes Friday night (Oct. 12) at Bo’s Bar and Stage.

The event pits nine contestants against each other in a lip syncing battle for two rounds with the judges determining the winner of the battle after the two rounds have been completed.  Each of our contestants will be giving it all they got from props to back up dancers and a whole lot of attitude.

Event co-chair Bonnee Gregg says the fundraiser continues to grow in popularity each year.

“The first year I think people were curious but not totally sold on it. But we still raised about $12,000 that night,” Gregg recalls.

“It’s all about the performers who are willing to put themselves out there. It takes a special personality to do that.

“It takes community-minded people who get it. They get the idea that showmanship can really get a crowd going and are willing to put themselves out there for a really good cause. Right now, with the state of Red Deer there’s a lot of need (for Women’s Outreach). So I think it’s an easy sell for people.”

VIP tickets for the Lip Sync Battle are available for $50 and include reserved seating, a drink and appetizers. Regular tickets are available for $25. Tickets can be purchased at womensoutreach.ca. Doors open at 7 p.m. with performances starting at 7:30.
