B.C. hockey team says it didn’t know executive was being investigated for sex crimes
A junior hockey team in British Columbia says it wasn’t aware that an executive they hired in 2024 was facing sexual exploitation allegations from another team in the same league.
In a statement Tuesday, the Nanaimo Clippers said Tyler King was hired as the club’s vice-president of business operations in the summer of that year and left months later, before the hockey season started.
The team said it terminated his employment when it found out the RCMP was investigating him.
RCMP announced Monday that they began investigating King in 2024, around the time he left the Okotoks Oilers, a team in southern Alberta that also plays in the British Columbia Hockey League.
