Residents welcome to opening of new Penhold Public Services Building

A new public services building in Penhold will have its grand opening this week.

Mayor Mike Yargeau and council welcome all residents to attend the ribbon-cutting on Aug. 14 at 3 p.m.

The building will be home to the town’s protective services and operations departments.

“This building represents our commitment to providing safe, reliable, and effective services to our community for decades to come,” said Mayor Yargeau.

“By bringing multiple departments together in one modern, purpose-built facility, we are creating opportunities for greater collaboration while ensuring our staff and first responders have the space and resources they need to serve our community.”

The building was designed with the future in mind, the town adds, with the centralized location offering the municipality more flexibility.

Yargeau also shared that the cost of the building was roughly $8.7 million, under the initial estimate of $9.5 million. About $2 million of that came from infrastructure grants, $3.5 million was borrowed, and the remainder came out of municipal reserves.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attendees are invited to stay for a tour of the new facility and a BBQ.
