Body of missing Red Deer man recovered 2 years after disappearance in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say the remains of missing Red Deer man, Stan Cappis, have been found.
The discovery comes a little more than two years after he went missing near the Tournament Capital Ranch.
Police say Stan Cappis and a friend jumped into the North Thompson River just after 3 p.m. on July 12, 2024 to rescue two young people who stepped off the sandbar and were starting to get carried downriver.
RCMP noted that while Cappis’s friend and the two young people were able to return to shore, the Alberta man was swept away.
