Red Deer’s Heritage Ranch finally has new operator

May 14, 2026 | 5:53 PM

The City of Red Deer announced late Thursday that it has finalized a five-year operating agreement with Stock Yard Kitchen Ltd. to become the new operator of Heritage Ranch.

They officially took over the site on May 7.

“Heritage Ranch holds a special place in our community, and we know residents have been waiting to hear what comes next,” said Sarah Tittemore, operations GM at the City of Red Deer.

“This process was about finding the right fit for Heritage Ranch and developing an agreement that supports the future of this amenity as a beautiful destination that preserves the community-focused character people value.”

Red Deerians will see the return of equestrian, restaurant, and event services over the next several months.

The new operator has experience in both restaurant and equestrian services through two local businesses.

The city added that the Meraki Group will lead restaurant, catering, and event services; meanwhile, JR Adventures will provide equestrian services. The Meraki Group has experience in the local restaurant industry, including State & Main, Original Joe’s and the Ponoka Golf Club’s eighteen91 restaurant.

Those who visit Heritage Ranch will be able to expect a four-season restaurant focused on affordable, quality food and beverage service, equestrian offerings, year-round event hosting, and investment in and enhancement of Heritage Ranch’s rustic amenities, the city says in a release.

Those in the area may notice activity this week, as the new operator begins site preparation and transition work.

The indoor amenities, restaurant services, and equestrian offerings will open in phases over the coming months.

The public will continue to have access to the outdoor park and public spaces of Heritage Ranch and the greater Waskasoo Park System throughout the process.

“This phased approach gives Stock Yard Kitchen Ltd. the time needed to prepare the site and create a strong visitor experience,” Tittemore added. “We know residents are eager to see activity return to Heritage Ranch, and this approach will help ensure the restaurant, equestrian and event services are reintroduced in a way that reflects the character of the site.”

Early activation of the site will include reopening indoor washroom facilities and returning horses to Heritage Ranch, followed by an expansion of equestrian services, with full restaurant, catering and event-hosting services expected to return through summer and fall 2026.
