Red Deer Polytechnic announced its suspended intake into three programs as a result of the ongoing budget planning process for the 2026-27 fiscal year.

The institution reported that the Bachelor of Applied Arts in Film Production will suspend intake effective fall 2027, but will proceed for the fall 2026 intake as planned.

Meanwhile, intake into the Early Learning and Child Care – Workplace Advancement Specialization Diploma and Early Childhood Education Leadership Development Certificate programs will be suspended immediately.

“As part of Red Deer Polytechnic’s ongoing commitment to ensuring academic programs remain sustainable, aligned with labour market demand and supportive of institutional priorities, the Polytechnic has completed a comprehensive review of its programs, taking into consideration factors such as enrolment trends, student outcomes, occupational demand, strategic alignment and financial sustainability,” as stated in a press release.
