Red Deer RCMP seize drugs, weapons after month-long investigation

Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section arrested two people and seized multiple weapons and drugs after a month-long drug trafficking investigation.

Police say Red Deer RCMP GIS and the Crime Reduction Team executed a search warrant on March 19 at a private residence in the north end of Red Deer after receiving information earlier in the month that led them to initiate an investigation.

They seized quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, two firearms, ammunition, contraband cigarettes, over $4,000 in cash, and other items related to drug trafficking.

As a result, police arrested a 45-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman, both from Red Deer.

The man is now facing multiple charges, including:

  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm x2
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm x2
  • Possess a weapon for a dangerous purpose x2
  • Fail to comply with a release order x2
  • Fail to comply with prohibition order x2

Following a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) hearing, he was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on March 24, 2026.

 In the meantime, charges are pending against the female suspect.
