Landowner blockades access to wellsite after three years of alleged unpaid bills

Mar 11, 2026 | 4:40 PM

After three years of non-payment on a lease agreement for active wells on his land, Edmonton landowner Mark Dorin is blockading the company’s access to his land – and he’s not alone.

Officials with The Coalition for Responsible Energy (C4RE) say one of the thousands of Alberta landowners fed-up with non-payment of active oil and gas well leases is taking action this Thursday, March 12, 2026, in southwest Edmonton.

The landowner-led blockade is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. and will include 12-foot highway signage, along with a media address.

After following proper legal procedure, landowner and advocate Mark Dorin is expected to tear up his lease with MAGA Energy Inc. and blockade the company’s access to his land after three years of nonpayment on the lease.

Dorin will be accompanied by other landowners affected by what they say is MAGA Energy’s lawlessness and the Alberta Energy Regulator’s lax enforcement.

The blockade will take place at Armisie Oil Field, Southwest Edmonton.

Directions: South of Cameron Heights Overpass on Anthony Henday Drive, take 184 Street off Maskêkosihk Trail to Riverheights Drive. Across from 15 Riverheights Drive find a plowed path across the field to the press conference location.
