Man sentenced in Red Deer homicide

Feb 27, 2026 | 1:25 PM

It’s 13 years in jail for one of two people charged in a Red Deer homicide two years ago.

Lance Michael Bilsky, 47, of Red Deer, was sentenced in Red Deer Court of King’s Bench on Feb. 23, 2026. He also received a lifetime firearm prohibition during his sentencing.

Bilsky was convicted on one count of manslaughter/use a firearm.

RCMP said on March 21, 2024, at 3:51 p.m., members received a report of a shooting that had allegedly occurred at an apartment building along Parke Avenue on Red Deer’s north end in the Pines neighbourhood.

When officers arrived, a suspect was observed running from the area, police say.

After a short pursuit on foot, the male was arrested, and police say they seized a firearm.

A second male suspect was also located near the scene and arrested.

Other officers arriving on scene located a deceased person, later identified as 54-year-old Red Deer resident Jason Cory Worobec.

RCMP charged Lance Bilsky, and Corey Archer. Bilsky was originally charged with second-degree murder while Archer was originally charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Both Bilsky and Archer were taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody.

Bilsky’s co-accused, Corey Duane Archer, 48, of Red Deer, is scheduled for a jury trial in Red Deer Court of King’s Bench from April 13-24, 2026.
