Weapons trafficking charge laid against Maskwacis man

A man from Maskwacis has been charged with firearms trafficking.

The charges stem from the discovery of a firearm at a crime scene in 2024.

Maskwacis RCMP say following an extensive investigation, it was determined the gun was illegally purchased.

On Oct. 23, 2025, they arrested a 26-year-old resident of Ermineskin Cree Nation.

The man has been charged with:

  • Weapons trafficking;
  • Transferring a firearm without authority.

After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, he was released with a number of conditions. He will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin on Nov. 18.
