Town of Blackfalds releases candidates list for municipal election

The Town of Blackfalds has unveiled its official list of candidates for the upcoming municipal election next month.

There are two mayoral candidates including incumbent Jamie Hoover and Laura Svab as well as 14 candidates running for city council.

This includes Ryan Brown, Edna Coulter (incumbent), Brenda Dennis (incumbent), Peter Gomes, Shane Hanson, Tracy Hoffman, Aaron J. Hoyte, Ray Olfert, Annette Park, Jim Sands (incumbent), Nadine St. Denis, Dena Thomas, Cory Twerdoclib, and Rebecca Williams.

Election day is set for Monday, Oct. 20 where residents can vote at the Blackfalds Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Meantime, advance voting will be available on Oct. 15 and 18 at the Eagle Builders Centre Banquet Room. On Oct. 15 the polls will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., then from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 18.
