Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools is celebrating the 50th anniversary of St. Elizabeth Seton School.
Beginning on Monday, they’ll hold a week-long celebration honouring five decades of faith, learning, and community.
The Kindergarten to Grade 5 school opened in 1976 and is named in honour of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first American-born saint and founder of the Catholic parochial school system in North America.
“Fifty years of St. Elizabeth Seton School is a celebration of the generations of children and families, and of the teachers, support staff, leaders and community members who have helped make Seton a place of faith, learning, friendship and belonging. We are grateful for all those who have contributed to our story over the past five decades, and we are especially excited to see a new generation of students creating their own memories and traditions. As we celebrate 50 years, we are reminded of the lasting impact a school community can have on a child’s life. Our hope is that every child who walks through our doors knows they belong, knows they are valued, and knows they have a voice. That is the spirit we celebrate today and the spirit we hope to carry forward for the next 50 years,” said Principal Rori-Lynn Daniel.
