Sylvan Lake Advanced Ambulatory Care Service temporarily closed on Monday

Aug 22, 2025 | 5:13 PM

Alberta Health Services (AHS) announced the Sylvan Lake Advanced Ambulatory Care Service (SLAACS) will be closed on Monday, Aug. 25 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

AHS says the temporary closure is because of a gap in physician coverage and added the service will operate as normal from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Full hours will resume on Tuesday. However, if coverage is secured, service will be restored and the community will be notified.

“Alberta Health Services is grateful for the support of surrounding healthcare centres and medical staff, and would like to thank the community for its patience and understanding during this time,” AHS wrote in the release.

If needed, patients will have access to medical care for urgent medical needs from facilities in nearby communities such as in Red Deer and Rocky Mountain House.

Appointments scheduled with other services at the Sylvan Lake Community Health Centre will not impacted by the temporary closure.

SLAACS offers diagnosis and treatment of urgent but non-life-threatening conditions. AHS says it is not for life-threatening emergencies such as heart attack, signs/symptoms of stroke, head trauma or seizures.
