Red Deer RCMP have arrested and charged a 24-year-old female resident in a pair of incidents that involved stolen vehicles that occurred earlier this month.

The first incident ocurred on March 4 when the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle.

When police arrived, they found three vehicles travelling together, one of which matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen.

Mounties say the vehicle later drove down a road that led to a dead end and got stuck in the snow. Police then arrested the suspect.

The suspect was charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, driving while prohibited, fraudulent concealment, possession of a controlled substance, and driving without insurance.

After she was taken before a Justice of the Peace, RCMP say she was released on a Release Order.

A week later on March 11, officers were on patrol when they located another vehicle that matched the description of another stolen vehicle.

Police began following the suspect to the area of Gaetz Ave. and 63 St. where the driver of the vehicle was arrested.

As a result, the female suspect was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, driving while prohibited, fraudulent concealment, two counts of a breach of release order, driving without insurance, and driving without registration.

This time, Mounties say she was remanded into custody after appearing before a Justice of the Peace. She’ll next appear in court on March 13 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
