One adult and one youth have been charged with firearms offences in Maskwacis.

At about 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 6, Maskwacis RCMP responded to a 911 call for threats with a firearm at a home on Louis Bull Nation.

RCMP say a victim reported that two male suspects had entered the residence with a gun and were threatening to shoot their son. The two males are said to have evaded police and fled the area on foot.

The investigation led police to a nearby residence, where both male suspects were located and arrested without incident.

A search warrant was then executed at a nearby residence.

As a result of the search warrant and investigation, a 23-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth, both residents of Maskwacis, have been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, the adult male was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin on Sept. 1, 2026.

The 17-year-old youth was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released from custody with conditions. The youth is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin on Sept. 2, 2026.
