Didsbury RCMP charge local housekeeper

Didsbury RCMP have charged one person following an investigation on Aug. 3.

That day, Mounties received a report of a theft at a rural property in Mountain View County.

According to police, the victim reported a female suspect, who was hired to provide home-care and housekeeping services, and that person had allegedly stolen items from the residence while conducting her duties.

Police add that the suspect requested the victims meet her at separate locations and, after the victims had left the house, the suspect attended the property and entered the home. She was then confronted by a male who had been asked to watch the property while the victims were away, they say.

Police determined the suspect had removed the video surveillance camera that was affixed to the residence, and an item belonging to the victim was seen in her vehicle, allegedly.

The suspect was arrested and her vehicle seized. A search warrant was obtained, and police recovered the victim’s property.

A 69-year-old woman from Cremona has been charged with theft under $5,000 and with being unlawfully in a dwelling.

She is to appear in a Didsbury courtroom on Aug. 24.
