March 2022 Incident

New trial dates scheduled for man charged in central Alberta shooting

Jun 4, 2024 | 4:38 PM

New trial dates have now been set for a Maskwacis man accused of attempted murder.

Jesse Cabry, 31, is now scheduled for trial in Wetaskiwin Court of King’s Bench from April 14-16, 2025. He was previously scheduled for trial in January of this year.

Cabry is charged with attempted murder with a firearm and pointing a firearm in the March 2, 2022, incident.

That’s when Maskwacis RCMP responded at 2:30 a.m. to a shots-fired complaint at the Samson Cree Nation town site.

Responding members located a 17-year-old male who had been shot. Mounties say the victim was rushed to hospital but was expected to recover from his injuries.

Police say the suspect was not located initially, but was eventually arrested without incident on March 9, 2022, at a home on Ermineskin Cree Nation.
